After reconstituting the Committee on Petitions, Rajya Sabha chairman C P Radhakrishnan nominated 10 members of the house to the panel, news agency PTI reported.
“Raghav Chadha has been appointed Chairman of the Committee," a Rajya Sabha notification said, adding the panel has been reconstituted by the Upper House chairman with effect from May 20. Besides Chadha, the panel includes — Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P, according to the PTI report. An AAP Stalwart Who Joined BJP Raghav Chadha, who was an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP, recently switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after experiencing differences with the party’s leadership. Subsequently, he came under an intense online scrutiny over his decision to switch to the BJP.
Along with Chadha, six other Rajya Sabha MPs — Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal — quit the AAP and joined the BJP. Stating the reason behind the move, Chadha had said: “The Aam Aadmi Party, which I nurtured with my blood and sweat and to which I gave 15 years of my youth, has now completely deviated from its principles, values, and core morals. The party is no longer working for the country or in the national interest, but for personal gain".
