The residents of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) region will be able to take Water Metro services between Nariman Point, Versova, and Bandra by 2028, said Maharashtra Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development Nitesh Rane.
Rane outlined the progress made in the maritime sector in the State while speaking at The Hindu’s ‘Maharashtra Infrastructure Conclave 2026’.
“We are currently in the finalisation stage, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on Water Metro has been submitted, and MoUs [Memoranda of Understanding] have been signed, the process of shortlisting land is under way,” said Mr. Rane, adding that connecting Navi Mumbai Airport is also part of the plan.
As a part of MMR Water Metro services, six to eight routes with 21 to 22 Metro stations have been identified.
