NEET fiasco: Karnataka to go ahead with CET counselling first

  • In the wake of the Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-2026) paper leak fiasco, the Karnataka government has decided to conduct the Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling first for engineering and others related courses this year.
  • Earlier CET and NEET counselling were conducted simultaneously.
  • This year, counselling will be held first for eight courses, including engineering, based on the CET rank, and counselling for medical, dental and AYUSH courses will be held later based on the NEET ranking later.
  • In addition, it was also decided to allow candidates of all courses, including medical and engineering, to upgrade up to the third round of CET counselling, in the meeting held with the private professional college managements, and officials of the Higher Education and Medical Education Departments, headed by Higher Education Minister M.C.
