KDA objects to teaching three languages in CBSE schools

• The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has objected to the recent order issued by the Union Education Ministry making the study of three languages (R1, R2, R3) mandatory for class 9 and 10 in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools with effect from July 1, 2026. The KDA further stated that it is against the Kannada Language Learning Act, which has been in force in the State since 2015. Purushottama Bilimale, chairman of KDA, has written a letter to Minister of School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa, urging the Union Government to withdraw and revise the order.
