But the star player’s revelation on the Netflix docuseries, The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox, shocked fans as Jarren Duran spoke about hitting a rough patch on the field and how it affected him to the extent of contemplating self harm.The Netflix docuseries, The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox, released in April 2025 and looked deeper into how the team performed in 2024. In the eighth episode, Jarren Duran opened up about contemplating self harm when his performance hit a slump.Jarren Duran said, “I got to a point where I was sitting in my room, I had my rifle and I had a bullet, and I pulled the trigger and the gun clicked, but nothing happened. So, to this day, I think God just didn’t let me take my own life because I seriously don’t know why it didn’t go off.”The Boston Red Sox’s star player also opened up about how fans’ reactions on his poor performance on the field had a huge impact on his mental health.Jarren Duran said, “I was already hearing it from fans…That was a really tough time for me. I didn’t even want to be here anymore.”Jarren Duran started his career in the MLB with his current team, the Boston Red Sox, back in 2021 and has constantly proved his worth.Last year, the star player was named the All-Star Game MVP after he was selected to play in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game.Jarren Duran was also placed 8th in American League MVP voting but he also got involved in a bit of controversy last year.Jarren Duran was suspended by the Boston Red Sox for two games after the star player was caught abusing a heckler.
