Honda City facelift to launch tomorrow: Here's what you can expect

Honda Cars India is all set to launch the updated Honda City tomorrow, marking the sedan’s second major facelift since the current-generation model debuted in 2020. Ahead of the official reveal, multiple spy shots and fresh details have surfaced online, offering a clearer look at the styling tweaks, feature additions and technology upgrades planned for Honda’s mid-size sedan. With rivals such as the Hyundai Verna already receiving substantial updates, and refreshed versions of the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia also expected soon, Honda appears focused on keeping the City relevant in an increasingly competitive sedan segment. Spy images suggest the sedan will feature redesigned LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lamps connected by a slim LED light bar stretching across the grille. The grille itself appears wider and adopts a layered mesh-like treatment, while the Honda logo has been repositioned closer to the bonnet line, giving the sedan a more contemporary appearance inspired by newer global Honda models. The front bumper has also been revised with sharper cuts and more angular detailing around the side sections, lending the sedan a sportier stance. Interestingly, recent test mules did not feature conventional fog lamps, hinting that Honda may have integrated those functions into the primary lighting setup. Spy shots have additionally revealed a front-mounted camera, strongly suggesting the inclusion of a 360-degree camera system for the first time on the City. In profile, the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, although newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels with gloss black detailing are expected to freshen up the side view. At the rear, updates are likely to include smoked LED tail-lamps, revised bumper inserts and a cleaner integrated boot spoiler for a more premium finish. One of the biggest upgrades is likely to be a larger freestanding touchscreen infotainment system replacing the current 8-inch unit. The new setup is expected to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with enhanced connected car technology. Honda is also tipped to introduce several long-awaited convenience features, including ventilated front seats, Type-C charging ports and the aforementioned 360-degree camera system. Spy images have further revealed ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard and door trims, while the familiar black-and-beige cabin theme is expected to continue. Other features likely to remain on offer include a sunroof, wireless charger, premium sound system, rear sunshade and a semi-digital instrument cluster. No major mechanical changes expected Mechanically, the updated Honda City is expected to continue with the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic. Honda is also expected to retain the Honda City e:HEV strong-hybrid variant, which combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor setup for a combined output of 126bhp. The hybrid version will continue with an e-CVT transmission and is expected to maintain its claimed fuel efficiency of around 27kmpl. Honda SENSING ADAS likely to continue On the safety front, higher variants of the City facelift are expected to continue offering Honda SENSING ADAS technology. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation and automatic high beam assist.
