(Representational image) In a major move against the Indian gangsters sitting abroad, the Delhi Police have moved a request to the Ministry of External Affairs requesting revocation of their passports. At least 25 names, including the most wanted gangsters, have been shared with the Centre, officials told News18.
Overall, 28 gangsters have been identified to bring them back to India, they said. These gangsters include those who have a valid Indian passport and fled the country following their involvement in several criminal cases, including murders, extortions, attempts to murder, and threats. Officials said the request has been sent to revoke their valid passports, leaving them with no valid Indian document to travel or stay abroad. The names include those of Himanshu Bhau, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, Arshdeep Singh aka Arsh Dalla, among others. Officials suggest that while some are based in Canada, others operate from the US, while a few are in European countries like Portugal or in Southeast Asian nations like Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The officials further said that Look Out Circulars (LOCs) have been issued against ten of these gangsters and Red Corner Notices against eight. Issued by the Bureau of Immigration, LOC is an official alert against fugitives or wanted men to notify internal intelligence agencies and law enforcement. The RCN, however, is an international alert sent to law enforcement worldwide to locate and detain the identified fugitives for their effective extradition. Over the last few months, Delhi Police have launched a massive, coordinated multi-state crackdown against organised crime, including requests to revoke the passports of criminals operating from abroad. The operations conducted recently not only targeted major gangs run by gangsters sitting abroad but also aimed at dismantling their street-level syndicate operatives across the Capital Region (NCR) and neighbouring states.
