(Image: X) Internet’s newest viral sensation, the Cockroach Janta Party’s “iconic" website, was taken down on Saturday, founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed, as he accused the BJP-led Centre of acting in a “dictatorial" manner. Dipke said nearly 10 lakh people had signed up as members of the bizarre-yet-viral digital movement, which quickly became popular among Millennials and Gen Z users for its sarcasm, memes and satirical take on the system. The meme-driven digital movement had rapidly gained popularity among Millennials and Gen Z users for its sarcastic humour, memes and anti-establishment commentary. ‘10 lakh cockroaches signed up’ Taking to X, Dipke claimed that nearly 10 lakh people had signed up as members on the website before it went offline.

“The government has taken down our iconic website. 10 Lakh cockroaches had signed up on our website as members," Dipke posted. But this dictatorial behaviour is opening the eyes of India’s youth," he said in the post.

“Our only crime is we were demanding a better future for ourselves. But you can’t get rid of us that easily. We’re working on a new home right now. Cockroaches never die," he added. The post quickly went viral across social media platforms, adding further momentum to the online movement. Movement linked to NEET row The controversy comes at a time when anger continues to grow over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak issue, which has triggered outrage among lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. Dipke linked the website controversy directly to the campaign demanding accountability over the examination row. Earlier in the day, he had also alleged that both his Instagram account and the party’s social media page had been hacked. The claims further amplified online discussion around the platform and its growing popularity. Rise of the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ The “Cockroach Janta Party" trend first gained attention online after controversy surrounding remarks allegedly made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a hearing on a plea seeking senior designation for a lawyer.
