The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Special Court, Vijayawada, on Monday awarded two years rigorous imprisonment to Kanuganti Mahendra, Panchayat Secretary, Cheekatigallapalem village, Vinukonda mandal of erstwhile Guntur district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh in 2010 for issuing a death certificate to a woman’s family. Following a complaint, the ACB officials trapped the panchayat secretary, and arrested the accused while accepting the bribe.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused, according to a release issued by the ACB officials.
