JAAC Holds Protest Outside White House, 'Stop State Terrorism In PoK' Slogans Raised Reported By, Edited By Last Updated: July 12, 2026, 23:47 IST Participants accused Pakistani security forces of carrying out violent crackdowns and killings during recent unrest in PoK. The PoK protest movement has witnessed large sit-ins, shutter-down strikes, and demonstrations across several towns. (Image: X/@JAAC__Official/File) The Jammu & Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which has been spearheading anti-government protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), held a demonstration outside the White House in Washington, DC, with participants raising slogans against the Pakistan Army and Army Chief Asim Munir. The protest, organised by members of the Kashmiri diaspora in the United States, saw demonstrators condemn what they described as state repression in PoK and demand the complete withdrawal of Pakistani troops from the region.
Protesters carried anti-Pakistan placards and chanted slogans such as “Stop State Terrorism in PoK", while also voicing support for the JAAC’s planned agitation in the region. US-Based Kashmiris Vow Full Support For PoK Protests Participants accused Pakistani security forces of carrying out violent crackdowns and killings during recent unrest in PoK. They urged Islamabad to resolve the issues the region is facing through negotiations and pledged their support for protests scheduled for July 15. The demonstration comes amid escalating tensions in PoK, where the JAAC has emerged as the face of a mass movement against the Pakistan government. The committee had earlier issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Islamabad, warning that it would launch a “grand and final response" if its demands were not met.
In a declaration earlier, the JAAC had said its sit-in protest would continue indefinitely and appealed to residents and overseas Kashmiris to join what it described as a region-wide movement. The group had also invited the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the United Nations, international media and human rights organisations to PoK to witness what it called “state oppression" and the alleged killing of civilians. The latest protests follow the collapse of talks between the committee and the PoK government. JAAC leaders have accused Pakistani authorities and the military of opting for force instead of dialogue, amid growing anger over inflation, electricity tariffs, taxation and governance issues in the region.
