The Indian Railways announced the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) connecting the busy Vijayawada-Gunadala corridor, estimated to cost ₹98.68 crore, thereby eliminating Level Crossing Gate No. 316.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, along with Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Gati Sakthi Unit Chief Project Manager, K. Simon and Additional Divisional Railway Manager P.E. Edwin, laid the foundation stone for the ROB works on Monday (June 29, 2026).
Speaking on the occasion, the MP thanked the South Coast Railway (SCoR) officials for sanctioning the Gunadala-Vijayawada ROB. Gati Sakthi Unit Deputy Chief Engineer P.V.
Ramana Rao said the 920 metres long and 24 metres width ROB, including service roads, would be completed in 18 months.
