JD Vance To Lead US Delegation At Iran Peace Deal Signing, Says Trump Published By, Last Updated: June 15, 2026, 22:28 IST US Vice President JD Vance to attend Friday signing of a MoU with Iran, marking a significant diplomatic development. US President Donald Trump said that Vice President JD Vance will lead the US delegation at the signing ceremony. US Vice President JD Vance will attend the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran, which is scheduled to take place on Friday. Trump, who reached Evian-les-Bains in France on Monday, said Vance will attend specifically for the signing ceremony in Geneva. According to Fox News, the President himself may be travelling to Geneva depending on scheduling at the G7 summit.
Replying to a question on when the MOU will be released, he said: “I think pretty soon. I want it to be released because it’s a very powerful document. It’s not like the Obama document, which was just a terrible document… So probably pretty soon. I would say sometime after Friday." Vance Lauds Peace Deal Earlier in the day, Vance lauded the peace deal that will bring an end to 107-day war. “What this agreement does is really twofold — on the one hand, it ensures that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, while simultaneously opening the Strait of Hormuz… it also fundamentally extends a hand to Iran and says, ‘Look, if you guys are willing to honor your obligations, if you’re willing to allow real inspections of your nuclear program, then we will welcome you back into the world economy’,“ he told CBS News.
“I think what the President wants to do is turn over a leaf of 47 years of a failed relationship between the United States and Iran, but that requires the Iranians to actually honour their end of the bargain," he added. Calling the agreement “performance-based," the Vice President said: “We have to remember, their economy is fundamentally destroyed. Their nuclear program is fundamentally destroyed. If they don’t do the right things [in the deal], they’re never going to have the money to rebuild their nuclear program to begin with." “We absolutely are open to the [GCC] countries investing in the reconstruction of Iran only if Iran ends their nuclear program," Vance told ABC News, adding that “not a single dollar of American money will go to Iran".
