A family suicide case in Andhra Pradesh involving Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer K. Nooka Raju, his wife Meena, and their daughter Soujanya has drawn widespread attention following allegations of extortion, harassment, and forced conversion. The three jumped into the Godavari River on August 16, while Soujanya's 10-year-old son survived after being rescued by fishermen. Investigators recovered suicide notes written by Soujanya and Nooka Raju accusing rifle shooting coach Sheikh Sadiq Khan of subjecting the family to months of mental torture, financial pressure, and attempting forced conversion to Islam.
Soujanya also alleged in her five-page letter that Khan poisoned her deceased husband, Kovvur Jagadeesh Reddy, monitored her continuously, and threatened to kidnap her son. Khan was arrested in Meerut on August 22 and brought back to Andhra Pradesh, where police registered FIRs under sections including abetment to suicide, extortion, and forced conversion.
