However, what happens when you have had a taste of that freedom and have to move back home? How do you adjust and how long do you miss the luxury? It seems moving back to India might not be a thing of relief for all who have lived abroad.In a post that is quickly gaining traction on X (formerly Twitter), a man living in Bengaluru shared how his daily routine changed more than he imagined after moving to the busy tech city from Germany, where he lived for six years.
“Moving from Germany to Bengaluru changed my daily routine more than I imagined. Here is the difference:” he wrote.As per Tanuj, in Bengaluru, he wakes up to car and truck noise and goes for a morning walk inside a gated society. It took him 1.5 hours in traffic to reach the office where more meetings & brainstorming took place than work. Through the day he went for lunch with coworkers, tea breaks, game breaks and people all around chattered.Even when he reached home, he was attending meetings till 10 pm.Whereas in Germany, he woke up in complete silence, ran in nature with clean air and commuted by public transport. When he went to work, he worked more, talked less and had lunch alone on most days.
He took no random breaks, there was silence all around and he never opened his laptop after work.“Which life would you choose?” he asked in the post. In a comment under the post, the man revealed that he moved back home due to two reasons, family and the depressing climate.Numerous social media users commented on the man’s question with mixed reactions While some aligned with his hectic life in Bengaluru, others wanted a calm like Germany.“As someone in Bengaluru tech, this hits hard. Germany sounds like “deep work, clean air, log off at 6”. Bengaluru is “noise, chaos, traffic, but energy, community, and late-night Zooms”. For building career + network, I’d pick BLR for now… but I’d love German-style work-life balance with Indian-style people and food one day.

Except for staying close to family, I don't miss anything, which I believe is a fair compromise as I will be seeing them regularly, maybe less often. Also, I could reach Bengaluru in about 10 hours, so it's not so bad even for an emergency,” added another.“India means lively, chaos, setbacks and challenges. Germany - u r a muted robot” one wrote.
