The Forward Seamenâs Union of India (FSUI), on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) said M.V. AMIR1, currently at Ukrainian port Chornomorsk with 15 crew on board, including 13 Indian seafarers, is trapped in a âterrible and life-threatening situation.â Repeated drone and missile attacks are being attempted in the immediate vicinity of the vessel.
The crew is living under constant fear of a direct hit at any moment, FSUI said in a post on X. âWe urgently appeal to all concerned authorities, shipowners, flag state, and the Government of India to immediately secure their safety and arrange prompt repatriation,â FSUI said.
Meanwhile, Search operations to locate missing crew had been called off because of continued attacks. On July 25, Palau-flagged general cargo ship AGN RAGNAR was reportedly attacked by three drones while exiting the Bystre Mouth of the Danube River into the Black Sea. During the attack, two Indian nationals, Mr. Chandra Ram Dubey (Ordinary Seaman) and Gupta Kumar Deepak (Ordinary Seaman), reportedly jumped overboard and are still missing.
The remaining seven crew members, including two Indian nationals, and the pilot were safely evacuated ashore by the Ukrainian Coast Guard.
